    3 Clean, safe drinking water is something that many Americans take for granted. Unfortunately, the possibility of intentional (chemical/biological terrorism) or accidental contamination  to our water distribution systems is a growing threat.  Local water utilities currently do not have the necessary tools for rapid response and recovery in the aftermath of a contamination incident. The Water Security Toolkit (WST) has been developed by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, Sandia National Laboratories, Argonne National Laboratory, University of Cincinnati, and Texas A&M University.  These software tools aid in contaminant detection, source identification and decision making for remediation and recovery.
