FAST: A Framework for Agile Software Development

The FAST software repository provides a collection of Python tools that support software testing. In it's current form, this does not really constitute a framework, but the plan is to develop a set of tools that support comprehensive testing of software tools.

Software Components

  • FAST Python package
    • fast: A package for software testing and code management
      • fast.exact: A package for defining and managing computational experiments
      • fast.sqa: Python modules that support SQA scripts
    • Scripts
  • Hudson
    • Build scripts
    • Plugins under development
  • Trac

Dependencies

  •  PyUtilib: Generic Python utilities that are used within most FAST tools
  •  UTILIB: C++ utilities that can be used by EXACT.
  •  acro-utilib: This Acro project builds UTILIB and manages a local installation of PyUTILIB and FAST.

FAST has been integrated into the Acro project acro-utilib. This project demonstrates how Python packages like FAST can be installed locally, thereby supporting a portable Python development framework. As part of this, I have finalized the structure of FAST.

This Trac page has been setup, and the first FAST release has been scheduled for November 26, 2008.
