Trac Moderator: unmoderated counter

Description

Can we add an "Unmoderated Tickets" counter plugin? I'd like to display that on the main Trac page, so moderators don't need to click on the moderator link to find out if they have work to do... Ideally, this counter would be a link that takes you to the moderator page...

r1807 adds the number of pending tickets to the "Moderator" link in the metanav navigation bar (iif there are any pending submissions).

While I like this feature, I have a small concern that *every* page load for moderators must run to the database to count the number of pending submissions. If we start to get lots of submissions (i.e. that table gets big), we might want to consider a way to cache the number of pending tickets so the nav entry doesn't have to re-count each time.

Given this, I can still add a wiki macro to the plugin if you still think it is necessary.

I think that this meet the need! I'm happy to close this. Though I agree that it might make sense to cache the count, I think we should simply see if we're getting a performance hit in our wiki usage.

  • Status changed from new to closed

Fair enough -- I will close this then. For what it's worth, the only people who may see a performance hit will be Moderators (including all TRAC_ADMINS). The code doesn't hit the database unless the user is a Moderator.
