Jonathan Eckstein, Bill Hart and Cindy Phillips have led the development of the PEBBL class library, which was integrated with the PICO MILP solver library until the Acro 1.0 release. Development of PICO was largely funded by the DOE Office of Science, the DOE Laboratory Directed Research and Development Program, and the DOE Advanced Simulation and Computing Program. Jonathan Eckstein also received funding for PEBBL from NSF grant CCR-9902092. Funding from the DOE Genomes-To-Life Program provided the first funding for a non-MILP application of the PEBBL classes (for a quadratic semi-assignment problem related to protein-protein docking).
