Bill Hart is the principle developer of Coliny, including the COLIN library for generic optimization interfaces. The design and capabilities in Coliny have been significantly influenced by the requirements of the DAKOTA project, which has used Coliny (and its predecessor SGOPT) for over ten years; Mario Alleva, Shane Brown, Danny Dunlavy, Mike Eldred and other DAKOTA developers have helped to significantly improve the performance of the Coliny software. The following collaborators also directly contributed to Coliny: Steve Cox (DIRECT), and Ann Peregrine (PatternSearch and COLIN). Development of Coliny and COLIN was largely funded by the DOE Office of Science, the DOE Laboratory Directed Research and Development Program, the DOE Advanced Simulation and Computing Program and the Lockheed Martin Shared Vision Program.
